About these Bedfordshire maps

What is the difference between the free sample and the complete map?

The free PDF covers a 17.6 km square in the centre of the county. The £25 complete download covers the whole mapped county, with an A3 vector PDF, grouped SVG, layered Illustrator and 3,000px square PNG.

Will the vector map stay sharp when I enlarge it?

The PDF and SVG contain vector artwork, so lines and shapes can scale cleanly. Choose a print size that keeps labels readable; a very small page cannot show the same detail comfortably.

How do I get the free sample PDF?

Choose “Smaller free sample” and complete the email form. The same street-map download process records your request and provides a private PDF link.

Which Bedfordshire boundary does this map use?

This map follows the established Bedfordshire outline in the GBMaps county collection. It can differ from a current council area or another definition of the county. The geographical and postcode figures on this page follow the same displayed boundary.

Can I change the map colours?

The SVG can be edited in compatible vector software. For an easier way to colour county or postcode boundaries into territories, use the separate online map colouring tool above.

Is there also a simple county reference map?

The existing Bedfordshire county reference SVG remains available. The detailed map preview and central sample above are separate, so existing links to the county SVG can continue to work. The original Bedfordshire reference PDF is also retained.

Do you need a detailed map covering all of Great Britain?

For wall graphics, oversized printing or professional artwork across England, Scotland and Wales, explore the whole-country vector map bundle. The SVG, PDF and Adobe Illustrator files are very large and complex, so this option is intended for experienced users with suitable hardware and software.

Where do the map and county figures come from?

The map uses the GBMaps Strategi design. The accompanying geographical statistics and place-name lists come from separate analysis of Ordnance Survey open mapping data, while named rivers and canals use the Strategi network. The statistics describe the county; not every source feature is labelled in the printed map. Geographical analysis was prepared in October 2026; the source archive date is not a verified survey or data release date.

Woodland, water and built-up areas use the most detailed outlines available for each category. Each is clipped to the county and measured after dissolving overlap within that category. Generalised versions for other map scales are excluded. Public parks and gardens use that specific greenspace class. Road and rail lengths measure mapped lines, which can include separate carriageways, tracks and ramps. Stations and settlement classifications describe source features rather than a current service or legal-status register.

Residents and households use Census 2021 postcode counts from the supplied census and postcode data, assigned once by postcode location. Current postcodes refer to the supplied directory compiled on 7 November 2026. These are census-based approximations, not population projections. The source years and missing or suppressed values are retained in the downloadable postcode analysis.
