Vector Layered Road Map of England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Irelandvector layered bath motorways and roads map

Our detailed UK & Ireland Motorways, Main Roads and Features Map

This map is fully vector editable and layered into useful grouped layers for each feature type. View the layers panel(opposite), for details on the layers in this map. It’s not too detailed that you can’t read all the labels or see all the features clearly when printed out large. A0 is a good size to print this map or you can extract or crop sections of the map and print or use at a smaller size.

This map provides the ideal foundation for adding a variety of other layers. This map is perfect for visualizing postcode boundaries, service areas, and other essential data for logistics, marketing, and regional planning. Provided as editable Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PDF and SVG files, you can easily tweak and tailor the maps to suit your specific requirements by changing fonts, colours and road thicknesses etc.

With coverage spanning the entire UK, including Ireland and Northern Ireland, Offered in vector, raster, or printed formats, they're scalable to any size without compromising on detail, making them the go-to solution for businesses in need of precise geographical information.

Example Vector Main Roads & Motorway Map

We call this our Motorway Map which is a bit of a misnomer because it shows much more than just the motorways. You’ll see from the illustrator layers panel there are many more layers, all of which contain vector elements which can be customised, coloured, styled or deleted.

What makes these maps particularly valuable is their versatility. Whether you’re looking to create detailed travel guides, informative geographical presentations, or even artistic interpretations of geographical data, these maps are up to the task.
They serve as an excellent base for a wide range of projects, providing users with both the comprehensive data of a traditional map and the flexibility of a customizable vector graphic. This adaptability makes our Motorway Map an indispensable tool for educators, designers, urban planners, and anyone in need of detailed, editable geographic information."

Adobe Illustrator Vector Map Layers Panel and Structure

Illustrator Layer Structure

This image shows the layer structure found within the Adobe Illustrator Vector Software editor. This layer panel shows what layers are present in this particular map when purchased.

Depending on the specific area and type of map you choose, the quantity, names and arrangement of layers can vary slightly.

This layer structure ensures that each map is created in the most efficient way we can think of.

We are designers ourselves and know how much of a pain it is to work on a design or composition that has a flattened or poorly thought out layer structure.

Adding Overlay Maps

If we are asked to add another type of boundary map as an overlay e.g. NHS Boundaries, Political Regions, Sales Territories or Postcode Boundaries, they will also be created using vectors and will occupy their own layer and have their own sub-layer structure so it is easy to show or hide such features.

With a bit of experience it is relatively easy to use the layer structure to create a pdf file with the ability to select the visibility of each of the layers.

Why are Vector graphics better than png, gif or jpg in Cartography and Map Making?

whats the difference between vector and raster images

Raster images are made up of pixels, while vector images are made up of lines and shapes. Raster images are best for photographs, while vector images are better for map features such as roads, rivers, and boundaries. Vector images are more flexible, scalable, and precise than raster images, making them ideal for map & plan design. Vector images tend to have smaller file sizes and can be read by screen readers.
