About our street maps and downloads
GBMaps publishes street maps for UK towns, villages and cities. The map on each place page lets you compare the smaller map with the larger download before choosing a file.
Coverage and map edition
The prepared collection is the November 2026 artwork edition. The edition identifies the production batch; it is not a claim that every road was surveyed in November 2026. Underlying street-data release dates have not yet been independently verified. Check the actual map for the features you need.
Town and village maps show a 1km × 1km smaller area, with a 3km × 3km larger bundle. City maps show a 1.5km × 1.5km smaller area and a 4km × 4km larger bundle. The initial city view is zoomed in by 30%, so approximately 1.15km × 1.15km is visible. The downloaded smaller file retains the full 1.5km square.
Free maps and paid files
The displayed smaller SVG can be saved directly from your browser. The smaller PDF is free with your email address and agreement to receive up to two GBMaps emails about similar mapping products within six months. You can unsubscribe at any time. The same PDF costs £10 including VAT if you prefer not to agree to marketing emails.
The larger map bundle costs £15 including VAT and arrives as one ZIP containing a 3,000 × 3,000 pixel PNG, PDF, SVG and Adobe Illustrator file. The website’s larger preview is a reduced 1,200 × 1,200 pixel image. Purchased files do not contain the preview watermark. Illustrator and SVG files can be opened in compatible vector software; do not assume every text label in every format is a live, editable text object.
Sources and credits
The maps are exported from our prepared street-map production project, using road, building, water, land and place-name layers. Source credits are retained in the artwork. The place-name reference information contains OS, Royal Mail and National Statistics data; inspect the credits on the supplied map for the applicable source acknowledgements.
Nearby-place maps are deliberately simplified locators: coastlines provide orientation, while place links, distances and compass directions help you browse. Distances are approximate straight-line distances, not road routes. Nearby relationships and label layouts are prepared in advance rather than calculated in your browser.
Local information and street lists
Street names are grouped by the smaller or larger map coverage where matched to the production road data. Any unmatched names from the earlier pages remain labelled as previous local references. Older city descriptions and village service records are retained for context and may need checking; they are not a current service directory.
