Map Control Panel

control your map position

This panel is draggable so can be moved to anywhere on the page. You can navigate around the map using the arrows and zoom the map in or out using the magnifying glasses.

Clicking on the reset zoom button or on the hand in the middle of the arrows will reset the zoom level of the map and also center it in the middle of the page.

You can show or hid the map legend using the eye at the bottom of the panel and you can make the key/legend bigger or smaller with the plus and minus circles.

You can scroll the map window(not the map) up and down the page using the double-up and double-down arrow buttons.

Common User Interface Features

Dragging. It is possible to drag the map key/legend, the symbols key/legend and the map control panel along with the help pages overlay window. This is useful for positioning when screen space is limited. If you have a scroll wheel on your mouse, scroll up while the mouse pointer is above the map and the map will zoom-in, scrolling down will zoom the map out. When using a map with districts or sectors, the more the map is zoomed, the more detail becomes visible. When colouring a detailed map at the most zoomed out level, entire areas will be coloured each time an area is clicked. When a map is zoomed in and district level data is shown, the map will be coloured by the district and not the area. This ensures a map can be coloured as quickly and efficiently as possible.

centre of the map

Clicking anywhere on the map and dragging the mouse will pan and move the map around the map window. To aid in the positioning of the map while it is being dragged, a red cross-hair will appear in the middle of the map. When you let go of the mouse and then zoom-in using the scroll wheel on the mouse, the map will be zoomed in to the centre of the cross-hair.

Titles Menu

Setting up the map titles start your map setup

Type the name of the map title in the edit box. As you are typing, the title on the actual map will change. The number of characters used out of the total are displayed above the text entry box. You can only enter up to the max number of characters for the map title and no more. To delete the whole text to start again click on the red circle cross.

The above is also true for the map key title. The only difference being the maximum number of characters available is less than 52.

Start / Add Names

add legend names edit legend names

Clicking on the green ‘Add New Name’ button will reveal a text entry box where the zone name should be entered. A green circle + will be present next to the zone name entry box, click this button to inset the zone name into the map.

The green circle button will now be replaced with a blue ‘refresh’ icon and a ‘red x’ icon. The red x deletes the zone name completely from the current menu panel, the legend on the map and also un-colours any areas on the map that have been coloured with that zone name. This action cannot be undone.

If you need to change a zone name to something else then simply change the text in the text entry box and click the refresh icon next to that name. This will update the legend on the map.

You can reliably add upto 52 different names in the key. Any more than 52 names and the key becomes unmanageable and can in some instances push some entries off the bottom of the map. If you require more names than 52 it may be more appropriate to import your data using symbols instead.

Login / Logout / Forgot Password

login and buy access login to your account

To access all the features of the map colouring system a user must be logged in. Assuming the user has purchased the appropriate license, the registered email address is the username. A password will have already been set at the time signup was completed. Once a password has been entered, click the blue login button and the system will verify the credentials entered. If they are valid the current dialog will disappear and a small message box in the centre of the screen will appear stating that the map is now unlocked.

By unlocking a map, various previously unavailable menu items will now become active.

If incorrect details have been entered a simple message box will be displayed stating that some of the details are incorrect. It will not specifically state wether it’s a password or username that is incorrect for security reasons. This could be annoying but its important not to let people know if a username exists on the system even thought the password is incorrect (and visa-versa).

Buy Unlock

If you do not have a license to use the map you are working on or you have a license to use a different map, it is possible to buy a license or upgrade an existing one by clicking the green Buy Unlock Code button. This will bring up a payment dialog which will be explained in more detail later.

Forgotten Password

forgotten password dialog

If you know your username but have forgotten your password you can click on the ‘forgot password’ link. This action will change the login menu panel as shown.

Enter your username in the box indicated and click the red ‘reset password’ button. This will email the registered email address with details on how to change your password.

The process is very quick, if you don’t receive the email within a few minutes, try again. You should check your spam folder before calling or getting in touch with us.

If you enter a username that is invalid, you will only be allowed 2 more attempts before the system locks your IP address from attempting to reset any more passwords.

If you cannot remember your registered email address, it was the one you used when you originally purchase the mapping system. If this was through PayPal, it will be your registered PayPal email address. If it was through Worldpay, you will have been able to choose any email address you have access to.

Logout

Logout and view your old maps log out button

You can log out of the system by clicking the logout button in the ‘logout’ menu panel. This will log you out, disabling all the features only available to logged in users. You will also be able to request a new password reset now you are no longer logged in.

The login panel shows the username that is currently logged, a logout button and an Upgrade button.

You can upgrade the type of maps you have access to by clicking the upgrade button. You will be shown a list of possible upgrades and alternative maps. Upgrading will take into account what you have already paid, how long you have had access to the current map and how many maps you’ve created with the current license. This is a fair system with a complicated algorithm.

Downloading Invoices

A list of invoices/receipts will be shown in the Logout panel which can all be downloaded as pdf files. Clicking on these links will open the pdf invoice in a new window/tab leaving your current map view open in its original window.

When a user is logged in, a session will be created which means they remain logged in even when they navigate to a different page on our site or any other. If you close your browser window or tab, the session will be lost and you will need to login again should you want to use the system again.

More Maps

view more maps we provide more maps button

This opens a menu with a list of all maps available to you in your region. Depending on the type of license you purchased you will have access to individual maps or all maps. Available maps are shown with a green tick. Selecting a map with a tick will automatically load that map and you will continue to be logged in and ready to use the map. If you select a map that doesn’t have a tick next to it, that map will be loaded but you will not be logged in when it opens. If you wish to add this to your current license simply click any of the buy now buttons. You will automatically be shown the correct price for the map you wish to purchase including any discount calculated by our multi-map discount algorithm.

Sharing Login Details

don't share your login details

It is strongly advisable NOT to share your login information with friends or colleagues. Another user could accidentally delete your maps or modify them in an undesirable way. Once your maps are gone, they cannot be retrieved, they are gone forever. We monitor the IP addresses of users when they are logged into the system If 2 IP addresses are logged in at the same time using the same login details, this will be recorded. If this happens on multiple occasions, your account will be restricted. You can use the system on any number of devices individually one-at-a-time but multiple devices at the same time as different users sharing login details is not acceptable.
N.B. Our software should be considered in the following way. “One License – Once User”.
