Saving a Map

All maps are stored on the secure web server in our own encoded file format in a database. Maps should be saved regularly to avoid loss of data should your connection to the internet be interrupted or an error occur for whatever reason. It’s very easy to save a map and continue working so if a failure does occur you will not loose all your work, just the changes made since your last save.

Basic Save

  1. Clicking the save button will open the save dialog box in the middle of the screen. If this is the first time you have saved, you will not see anything in the large box in the centre of the save dialog window. If you have previously saved maps, they will be listed here.
  2. A default name will appear in the file name box “Map Name”. To give this map a unique name enter it here.
  3. You will be limited to saving your map in our own file format if this is the first time you have saved. When your map has been saved once, it will be possible to save in in all the other file formats.
  4. Click the green save button and wait a few seconds. A green progress bar will move across the screen which signifies the system is working. A spinney wheel will also be present in case the progress bar isn’t working on your browser.
  5. When the save has been completed successful, a small message will appear on screen to inform you of this. Clicking close will get rid the message box and return you to editing your map.
  6. When your map has been successfully saved into the system it becomes possible to export or save the map in various other file formats (explained separately).

Opening a Map

Firstly, you must be logged in with valid account credentials to be able to open a stored map. Opening a stored map brings up a similar dialog box to the saved map.
