Save, download & share

Save, open & keep a separate copy

Saving keeps the editable map in your account. Downloading creates a file for use elsewhere. It is worth doing both when the map is ready to share.

The Save menu in its unlocked state. Save a Copy also appears when editing a stored map.
  1. Give your map a name

The Save menu opens in Print View. Enter a recognisable file name, up to 35 characters. Include a place, purpose or version, for example “North delivery zones Sep”. This name identifies the saved map; it is separate from the title printed on the artwork.

  2. Save

Stores the current editable map and its settings. Wait for the saved confirmation before leaving. When working on an existing saved map, a normal save updates that map. Your downloaded PDF or image is not the editable record used by the tool.

  3. Save a Copy of this map

This option appears when editing a stored map. Tick it and give the copy a distinct name before saving if you want to preserve the original. It is useful before a new import, a territory reorganisation or a design experiment.

  4. Download choices

The buttons beneath Save start PDF, PNG, JPG, SVG, CSV and PowerPoint exports, subject to access. The tool saves/prepares the map as part of the export process. Choose the file type for the job; see Download formats for the differences.

  5. Open

The Open button takes you to the saved-map manager, where you can find previous editable maps and generated files. If it is unavailable, check that you are logged into the account that owns the maps.

  6. New

Starts a new map. If asked what to do with unsaved work, choose Save first if you need it, or cancel to carry on editing. Starting afresh is not a way to create a safe duplicate of the current map.

  7. Preview on Google

Opens the geographic preview from the Save area. The On Google tab is also available in the main toolbar. For current editing, return to Print View or Design; geographic background tiles are not part of the SVG artwork export.
