Help, FAQs & the newer mapping tool

The links beneath the main menus give you another way to get help or explore the newer mapping tool. Scroll the sidebar down to see them.

Help, FAQs & the newer mapping tool — current GBMaps controls 1 3
The current panel, with its options expanded where useful. Select a numbered circle to read its explanation.
  1. Advanced Mapping: Explore VectorMaps

Opens the newer mapping tool in a separate tab, with the current map region/type passed along where supported. It is useful when you need its wider map catalogue or more complex mapping features. This link does not transfer the customised SVG map or its unsaved changes.

  2. Find the video tutorials in this guide

Choose Videos at the top of the handbook for the tutorial directory, or follow the Watch tutorial link in a relevant topic. Videos open separately, so your current map stays in place. Some show an older arrangement of the controls.

  3. Help & FAQs

Opens this illustrated handbook over the tool, with search, numbered panel pictures and tutorial links. The About GBMaps & the service section covers licences, renewals, accounts, refunds and the business. Close help or choose Back to my map to return to the same work.

  4. Quick Tour on the top toolbar

Starts a guided introduction over the editor. Follow its steps or close it when you are ready to continue. A tour is useful for getting your bearings; the panel guides here go into the individual settings in more depth.

  5. If you still need a hand

Use the Contact GBMaps link at the bottom of this guide. Say which map type you are using, the action you took and the exact message you received. A screenshot of the problem is useful. Keep an unsaved map open while you check what went wrong.

  6. Open in separate window

Use this button at the top of the handbook to move the topic you are reading into its own browser window. The overlay closes after the new window opens, leaving your work in place. If your browser blocks the window, the guide stays open and asks you to allow pop-ups. You can place the guide beside the map while you work.

  7. Help from your saved maps

The Help & FAQs link in the File Manager heading opens the same handbook, starting with saved maps and files. Back to saved maps or the close cross returns to the manager without submitting an order, renewing a licence or changing any files.

  8. Choose a map from the handbook

Choose a map lists the postcode area, district, sector and county tools with a short explanation of their detail. The map links open a separate tab, leaving both your guide and any map you already have open available. Save existing work before deciding to close its tab.
