Import limits: dots, markers, circles and data
Dots and marker boxes support up to 500 locations per import. On supported Eircode maps, no more than 200 of those locations can be full Eircodes. These are import limits, not a promised total number of objects per map. If you need more, choose Contact GBMaps and tell us the map, the type of import and approximately how many locations or rows you need, so we can discuss options.
Dots and shapes: 500 locations per import
Create Dots accepts up to 500 postcode locations in one import. Advanced import has the same 500 data-row limit for circles, stars and other dot shapes, and its CSV must be smaller than 2 MB. Remove blank lines and do not paste headings into individual columns. A recognised CSV heading row is separate from the data rows. This is not a separate allowance for each shape or a stated 500-dot total per map. If you need more, choose Contact GBMaps and tell us the map, the type of import and approximately how many locations or rows you need, so we can discuss options.
Marker boxes: 500 locations per import
Import from postcodes and Advanced import both accept up to 500 marker locations per import. Keep postcode and label rows aligned. An advanced marker CSV must be smaller than 2 MB. The 500-row import limit is not a documented maximum for all manually placed markers on a map; we do not promise unlimited markers. If you need more, choose Contact GBMaps and tell us the map, the type of import and approximately how many locations or rows you need, so we can discuss options.
Eircodes: 200 per import on supported maps
Where the tool offers Postcodes & Eircodes on supported UK-and-Ireland or Ireland maps, a dots, markers or circle-centre import can process up to 500 locations in total, including at most 200 full Eircodes; the remaining locations may be UK postcodes. Only the first 200 Eircodes are processed and extra Eircode rows are skipped, so read the import summary. Eircode lookup is not available on every UK, NHS or overseas map. BT postcodes are UK postcodes, not Eircodes. Contact GBMaps to discuss a larger Eircode job rather than relying on extra rows being imported.
Need more than the limit? Contact GBMaps
Choose Contact GBMaps below the assistant, or use the contact link in the help. Describe the map you are using, whether you want dots, labelled markers, rings, travel areas or numerical figures, and your approximate row count. We can discuss the options for your particular job. Do not assume repeated batches accumulate safely: some imports replace the existing collection. Buying or upgrading an unlock does not promise higher dot, marker, Eircode or file-import limits. We do not promise a larger limit, a particular price or unlimited objects before discussing your requirements.
Radial Circles: up to 20 rings in each set
A circle set has one centre and can contain 1–20 concentric rings. Twenty is the ring count per set, not a maximum of 20 centres or sets across the map. On supported Eircode maps the circle-centre importer uses the 500-location / 200-Eircode limits above. Other circle-import routes do not have a verified published maximum number of centres or CSV size in this guide; do not assume the dots CSV limit applies to them or that they are unlimited. For a large circle-set import, contact GBMaps with the number of centres and rings you need.
Distance/Time: five starting points per map
You can have up to five travel starting points on a map. The starting-point CSV importer accepts 1–5 data rows in a file smaller than 1 MB, and new points must fit within the five-point map total. An existing imported ID updates that starting point instead of adding another. Rings or time bands around a starting point are not extra starting points. The trial travel-range limits are separate from this count. Contact GBMaps to discuss a job needing more than five starting points.
My datasets: 25,000 data rows and 8 MB
Additional Data → My datasets accepts a numerical CSV with up to 25,000 data rows and a file size up to 8 MB; include the column-heading row. This route totals figures against postcode areas and territories. It does not plot 25,000 dots or markers. Import Excel for colouring postcode territories is another route: do not apply the 500-dot limit or the My datasets limit to it without checking the particular job. Contact GBMaps for larger files or advice about which import suits your data.
Assistant attachments have their own limits
Attach one reference file per message, up to 8 MB; CSV attachments have a smaller 1 MB limit. Tables must fit all the limits: 500 rows, 20 columns, 5,000 cells and three sheets. PDFs can have up to 10 pages, and images up to 16 megapixels. Attaching a file is not the same as importing dots, markers or a dataset. Use the appropriate import guide for that job. If your complete job needs more than the supported limit, contact GBMaps to discuss options. Never assume Advanced import supports an unlimited list.
