Build a map from a territory spreadsheet

This works well when your business already maintains a postcode-to-team list.

  1. Prepare a clean table

Use one row per postcode polygon with its territory name beside it. Remove headings from the copied selection. Check that the postcode level matches the map and that the names are consistent.

  2. Choose automatic or supplied colours

Use Import Excel for automatic colours. Use Import with colours if the spreadsheet already contains the desired colour names. Keep all columns aligned.

  3. Inspect the result

Compare a few known territories against the spreadsheet. Investigate unexpected extra key entries or blank areas before changing the design. The key should represent the intended groups.

  4. Prepare the page

Add a title, make the key readable and choose useful map details. Hide unassigned areas if only the imported territories should be shown. Save with a meaningful name and export the required format.
