# Print View, Design & On Google Official GBMaps guide for the classic map maker. VectorMaps has a different interface. Source: https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=views Updated: 2026-10-22 These tabs show the map in different contexts. Print View and Design work on the same artwork. On Google opens a geographic preview of the territory information. ![Print View, Design & On Google — current GBMaps controls](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/help/images/help-20261022-toolbar.png) Current controls with example details. Select a numbered circle for its explanation. Available options depend on your map and account. ## 1. Print View Shows the page background, title and border, with the map clipped to the page. Use it to judge what will fit on a PDF or image: check the key, markers and any circles near the edges. It is still possible to work on the map here. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=views#views--print) ## 2. Design Gives you room to work beyond the page edge. The page decorations are hidden and a guide shows the page boundary. It is useful when moving the map or key into place. Anything left outside the final page may be cut off in a download. Switching tabs does not create a second design. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=views#views--design) ## 3. On Google Builds a preview of the current territories over a geographic background. The editing sidebar is hidden and cannot be reopened in this view; it returns to its previous state when you go back to Print View or Design. Undo and Redo are unavailable here. Return to the editor to change the design, then reopen On Google to refresh the preview. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=views#views--google) ## 4. Find the map controls On desktop, Colour and Detail sit above the map, page orientation is on the right, and zoom and Fit map are near the bottom. Use the slim handle at the left of the map to hide or reopen the editing sidebar. On a phone or tablet, open Tools to choose the equivalent controls. Closing a panel makes room to view the artwork without removing map content. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=views#views--controls) ## 5. Quick Tour Starts the guided introduction to the tool. Follow its on-screen steps, move on with its navigation buttons, or close it to return to your map. The question-mark links beside individual menus take you to the relevant video. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=views#views--tour) ## 6. Undo and Redo Undo reverses a recent colouring operation; Redo restores it. A greyed-out button has no available step, or you are in a view where editing is unavailable. Read any import or delete confirmation rather than assuming the whole tool has unlimited undo. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=views#views--history) ## 7. Postcode or place search Enter a postcode or place and use the magnifying-glass button. The search locates it for you; it does not assign it to a territory. The red clear button removes the search indication. Search availability and wording depend on the selected map. The same top search is used in On Google once that preview is ready. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=views#views--search) ## 8. Blue question-mark beside Undo Opens this handbook in a large overlay. Search for an answer or browse the menus, then use the close cross, Back to my map or Escape to resume your work. It is also available in On Google. Help does not save or change the map.
