# Help, FAQs & the newer mapping tool Official GBMaps guide for the classic map maker. VectorMaps has a different interface. Source: https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources Updated: 2026-10-22 Open More Maps to find Advanced Mapping at the bottom of the panel. Help & FAQs is the underlined link at the bottom-left of the tool. ![Compact Advanced Mapping card at the bottom of More Maps](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/help/images/resources.png) Open More Maps to find this card at the bottom. Help & FAQs is now a white, underlined link at the bottom-left of the tool. ## 1. Maps that open in VectorMaps Some choices in More Maps open in the separate VectorMaps tool. The chooser shows the destination before you leave: Stay here cancels; Open map opens that map. Your customised colouring and unsaved artwork are not automatically transferred. Save anything you want to keep first. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources#resources--advanced) ## 2. Find the video tutorials in this guide Choose Videos at the top of the handbook for the tutorial directory, or follow the Watch tutorial link in a relevant topic. Videos open separately, so your current map stays in place. Some show an older arrangement of the controls. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources#resources--videos) ## 3. Help & FAQs Choose the white, underlined Help & FAQs link in the bottom-left footer to open this illustrated handbook over the tool, with search, numbered panel pictures and tutorial links. The About GBMaps & the service section covers licences, renewals, accounts, refunds and the business. Close help or choose Back to my map to return to the same work. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources#resources--faq) ## 4. Quick Tour on the top toolbar Starts a guided introduction over the editor. Follow its steps or close it when you are ready to continue. A tour is useful for getting your bearings; the panel guides here go into the individual settings in more depth. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources#resources--tour) ## 5. If you still need a hand Use the Contact GBMaps link at the bottom of this guide. Say which map type you are using, the action you took and the exact message you received. A screenshot of the problem is useful. Keep an unsaved map open while you check what went wrong. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources#resources--contact) ## 6. Open in separate window Use this button at the top of the handbook to move the topic you are reading into its own browser window. The overlay closes after the new window opens, leaving your work in place. If your browser blocks the window, the guide stays open and asks you to allow pop-ups. You can place the guide beside the map while you work. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources#resources--separate) ## 7. Help from your saved maps The Help & FAQs link in the File Manager heading opens the same handbook, starting with saved maps and files. Back to saved maps or the close cross returns to the manager without submitting an order, renewing a licence or changing any files. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources#resources--file-manager) ## 8. Choose a map from the handbook Choose a map lists the postcode area, district, sector and county tools with a short explanation of their detail. The map links open a separate tab, leaving both your guide and any map you already have open available. Save existing work before deciding to close its tab. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=resources#resources--choose) ## 9. Share a help topic Choose Share topic beside Print topic at the top of any handbook article. Copy a link gives you a link to paste into a message or team chat. Send an email lets a signed-in customer enter one recipient and send a formatted GBMaps email; visitors can sign in there or use their own email app. The recipient opens a fresh map preview with that help topic already on top, then closes help to try the tool. Sharing a topic does not include your saved map, customer data or account details. If copying is blocked, select the link and use your usual copy command. If an email cannot be sent, the box explains the problem and the copy-link option remains available.
