# Buy, unlock or renew a map Official GBMaps guide for the classic map maker. VectorMaps has a different interface. Source: https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=payments Updated: 2026-10-22 Choose the map and number of people, check the current total, then complete payment. New access, renewing existing access and upgrading to another package use different offers: check the heading before paying. ![Buy, unlock or renew a map — current GBMaps controls](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/help/images/help-20261022-payment-1440.png) Current controls with example details. Select a numbered circle for its explanation. Available options depend on your map and account. ## 1. Check the product title Read the map name and whether the dialog says Unlock or Renew. In the saved-map manager it follows the row you selected, which may differ from the map you were editing previously. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=payments#payments--product) ## 2. Check the current price and terms The dialog shows the selected offer and its details. Use those figures rather than an example screenshot in this guide; prices, VAT and access periods can change. Read the included information before continuing. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=payments#payments--price) ## 3. Choose personal or team access In How many people?, choose 1 person, Up to 5 people or Up to 10 people. The quote updates, including any VAT. Team size includes the owner. New customers pay first and name their team and invite colleagues afterwards; no team setup is required before payment. If you already own paid access, check Upgrade access in My maps instead of buying the same licence again. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=payments#payments--people) ## 4. Choose a payment method Use the payment choices shown in the current box. The current checkout accepts card, PayPal and available wallet options through Stripe; the options offered can depend on your browser, device and billing country. Enter the GBMaps email you want the access on, then complete the payment steps. An extra bank approval may be requested. Bank Transfer is available where shown and starts access after the transfer is matched. Keep your map tab open; a provider may ask you to approve payment separately and return. Wait for payment confirmation, then sign in with the purchase email if asked. Do not pay again just because access has not refreshed immediately. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=payments#payments--method) ## 5. Questions before buying Open the questions/FAQ section for the current purchase information. It expands within the dialog and can be folded away again. For an account-specific issue, contact GBMaps with the map type and account email. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=payments#payments--faq) ## 6. Close or Escape Closes the chooser without selecting a payment method. It returns you to the editor or saved-map page. Closing a chooser is different from cancelling a payment after you have already moved into a provider’s checkout. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=payments#payments--close) ## 7. After paying Wait for the confirmed result. The map you were colouring remains in the editor; sign in with the purchaser’s email to use the access and save it. A first-time customer may need to set a password using the email code. Team purchasers can now open My team to name the team and invite colleagues. The receipt and invoice refer to the purchase; a saved map is a separate editable record. [Open this step](https://www.gbmaps.com/mcs/map-help.php?topic=payments#payments--return) ## 8. If payment is cancelled, pending or fails Keep the map open. Read the payment message and check whether your payment provider says the payment succeeded. If you paid but access is missing, use the status link offered or contact GBMaps with the purchase email and receipt reference. Do not send card numbers, bank login details or passwords. Closing a dialog or signing in does not itself confirm a payment.
